Saving and Protecting the Lives of Our Grandchildren
2nd Time Parenting mission is to create a supportive environment that inspires love, enhances the quality of life and empowers grandparents struggling to raise their grandchildren by providing resources that helps alleviate an already critical, stressful and overwhelming experience.
CeCe Vance the founder of 2nd Time Parenting became a 2nd time Mommy again at age 52, when she found herself raising an infant grandson due to both of his parents' drug addiction.
Her grandson was only 6-weeks old when he came to live with her. CeCe understands firsthand the joys and challenges of raising a grandchild, and after 2 1/2 years of talking about it with her husband, he encouraged her to follow her heart and share her story to other grandparents in similar situations, so they know they are not alone and also to let them know there is help available.
Children being raised by their grandparents experience greater stability than those in traditional foster care. However, many Grandfamilies do not receive the support or resources that they need to survive. Across the United States, more than 13 million children are living in homes with their grandparents.
When children and youth are separated from their parents the pain of abandonment, fear, anger, and confusion is very emotional and hard to work through on their own. We can refer you to Certified Counselors that specialize in child development in order to help your grandchild begin the healing process.
Grandparents who have the primary responsibility for raising their grandchildren often face many challenges. Our support groups give you a place to share experiences, network with others, and find workable solutions to the challenges ahead.
We provide educational workshops and seminars that focus on the special needs of grandparents raising grandchildren. Topics:
